Stats Perform is Opta
Opta is Stats Perform's sports data brand. Stats Perform owns the Opta name, collects every Opta data point, and builds and operates every product that carries it. One company stands behind the whole family: Opta data feeds, Opta Pulse, OptaAI Studio, Opta Graphics, Opta Vision, Opta Live, Opta Search, Opta Points, RunningBall, Bet LiveStreams, Content Player Pro and PressBox Video.
The Opta name has been attached to football data since 1996, and 2026 marks 30 years of data innovation in football under the brand. The database behind the name reaches much further back: through Opta Search, the archive is queryable as far back as 1870. Today the brand covers the data itself, the AI tooling built on it, and an editorial audience of its own. More than a million fans visit Opta Analyst every month. Stats Perform's brand line puts the relationship in five words: "In sport, truth starts with Opta."
Opta is the brand. Stats Perform is the company.
Stats Perform is a sports data and AI company. Its archive holds 7.2+ petabytes of proprietary sports data across 3,900+ competitions and 20+ sports, capturing millions of data points per game, including all on-ball and off-ball moments of each player. That archive feeds 140+ AI models and 8 domain-specific foundation models, protected by 693+ patent assets. Opta is the name Stats Perform gives to this data and to the products built on it.
When Opta statistics appear in a broadcast, an app, a fantasy game or a sportsbook, they are licensed from Stats Perform. The company maintains 100+ global partnerships with broadcasters, sportsbooks, media companies, teams and digital platforms, and in every one of them the data originates with Stats Perform: collected, verified and distributed by the same organisation that owns the brand.

Opta data feeds deliver live and historical sports data by API. The feeds cover 500,000+ matches a year across 3,900 global competitions and carry 14 billion+ unique event data points, powering betting, fantasy, broadcast and editorial products.
Opta Pulse is an AI-assisted video creation and distribution solution that enables leagues, rights holders and broadcasters to produce sports highlights up to 80% faster than traditional workflows, generating broadcast-quality clips in under a minute. It works in two modes: real time, where a rule-builder applies clip criteria to a live feed and assembles highlight packages on match completion, and historical, searching across the Opta archive to package footage from more than 1,000 competitions worldwide via Opta Search. Clips capture standard events (goals, tackles, penalties) and lighter moments (manager and crowd reactions, commentator remarks), drawing on 10 million+ data points captured per match, with output in broadcast, square and vertical formats. One league's production team put a manual match edit at two hours of work; Opta Pulse produces it in around ten minutes. Stats Perform launched Opta Pulse in May 2026.
OptaAI Studio combines AI with Opta's live sports database so creators can surface insights, validate narratives and produce data-driven content in a single workspace, before, during and after a match. Four tools make up the studio: Research for statistical analysis, Discovery for live-game storytelling on low-latency data, Visualise for branded graphics, and Watch for data-powered highlights. An in-match support desk gives production teams a direct line to Stats Perform's own data-insights team for ad-hoc questions they can use on air, one more place where the brand on the screen and the company behind it are the same organisation. A university media relations team used the platform to streamline match-day research that previously required a team of interns, saving hours on every press package.
Opta Graphics produces customisable, on-brand graphics that bring sports data to life, combining 30 years of sports data with AI-driven metrics. The 2.0 release makes the platform fully self-serve: customers design their own canvases, manage their own brand guidelines and assets, and tag assets to data items so visuals auto-populate, with flexible aspect ratios so a design adapts to any format without rebuilding. Ten templates that previously took four to six weeks to commission can now be produced by an in-house designer within a single working day. Across 2025 the platform produced 22,000 graphics, saving customers 5,500 creative hours and €1.1 million. At launch, 2.0 is production-ready for football, basketball and American football.
Opta Vision, Opta Live, Opta Points and Opta Search round out the data products. Opta Vision turns tracking and event data into richer insight on movement, shape, pressure and passing. Opta Live delivers live scores, standings, Expected Goals, predictions and deep historical data. Opta Points is an objective scoring system that helps fans understand player performance. Opta Search is the self-service query layer across the Opta database, with data as far back as 1870 and hundreds of metrics per competition (331 player-level and 351 team-level for the Premier League alone); it is also the discovery layer Opta Pulse draws on for archive content.
RunningBall is Stats Perform's ultrafast in-play data service: trusted data, direct from the stadium, for more confident trading and in-play betting. RunningBall powers in-play odds for more than 110,000 events per year, delivering data from the venue in under one second through a 1,500+ strong global scouting network. The operation holds ISO 9001 accreditation for its global data collection centres and five consecutive years of IBIA Data Standards accreditation.
Bet LiveStreams delivers round-the-clock live sports video streams built for bettors: over 40,000 premium live streams from 18 global sports, spanning more than 120 premium competitions across football, tennis, basketball, ice hockey, cricket, baseball and more, with Opta Interactive Overlays™ for odds and live stats inside the stream.
Content Player Pro packages pre-match and live match data, advanced metrics and interactive visuals in one embeddable solution for sportsbooks and media platforms. It deploys via iFrame or API in under two weeks, fully customisable to the platform's branding, with real-time trackers and stats powered by Opta and RunningBall.
PressBox Video supplies licensed sports news video for media and broadcasters in three forms: uncut raw video, clean video edited without graphics for custom branding, and ready-to-publish video. A 10+ year historical archive sits behind it, available through enterprise access or pay-as-you-go via the self-service PressBox Video application.
